Short answer. For The Last Caretaker, a TheGamer crafting guide (14 November 2025) lists seven guns, from the Electric Pistol to the Bolt Sniper [S1]. A Great Taz Gaming narrator also counts seven ([11:56]) [S2]. The guide's gun unlock tiers run from Tier 3 to Tier 17 [S1]. It predates Update 5.5, whose notes say "Updated weapon and weapon attachment crafting." [S7] For Update 6.0, Channel37 says the flamethrower and flame pistol now give off heat, with no damage or heat numbers [S6].

Weapons and unlock tiers

The tiers below come from a TheGamer guide published 14 November 2025 [S1]. They are third-party figures from before Update 5.5, and the Update 5.5 notes say "Updated weapon and weapon attachment crafting." [S7] Treat them as a starting point.

Weapon (name as TheGamer writes it)UnlockPower or ammoSource
Electric PistolTier 3, 1 Skill PointCharges from Electric Port or Backpack[S1]
Bolt PistolTier 5, 2 Skill PointsPistol Flex ammo[S1]
Flamer PistolTier 7, 2 Skill PointsCharges from Petrol Container or Backpack[S1]
Flame ThrowerTier 10, 3 Skill PointsCharges from Petrol Container or Backpack[S1]
Bolt RifleTier 11, 3 Skill PointsRifle Slam ammo[S1]
Electric RifleTier 14, 3 Skill PointsCharges from Electric Port or Backpack[S1]
Bolt SniperTier 17, 3 Skill PointsSniper Lux ammo[S1]

An Epic Games Store guide says the game begins with a Crowbar melee weapon [S3].

Where the guides disagree. TheGamer's separate weapon guide, published 15 November 2025, gives different figures in its text and in its own tables [S4]:

  • Its text says the Electric Pistol unlocks at "tier five for two skill points" [S4]. Its own table lists the Electric Pistol at "Tier 3 1 Skill Point" [S4]. The Epic guide says "As soon as you reach Level 3, unlock the Electric Pistol" [S3].
  • Its text says "Bolt Rifle for two skill points at tier 11" [S4], while its table lists "Tier 11 3 Skill Points" [S4].
  • Its ammo table puts Sniper Rod at "Tier 15 1 Skill Point" [S4], while the crafting guide says "Tier 19" [S1].

TheGamer and Epic are third-party sites, not Channel37.

Power, fuel and ammo

Bolt guns use crafted ammo, while electric and flame guns draw on a cable or a backpack [S1]. The Update 5.5 notes say "Ammo now takes 10 seconds to craft." [S7]

  • A wiki.gg page published 22 February 2026 says backpacks add "an additional 100, 200 or 400 total capacity, depending on the Backpack" [S5].
  • TheGamer's weapon guide says you can "only equip one backpack at once" [S4].
  • The same wiki page says "Bolt weapons can be used underwater." [S5] It says of electric weapons: "Not usable underwater." [S5]
  • A Great Taz Gaming narrator says of the sniper round types: "They all allow you to shoot underwater" and then "I don't really know the major difference" ([7:30]) [S2].
  • On flame weapons, TheGamer (15 November 2025) writes "Great against organics, less so against robotics." [S4] Lancar (8 January 2026) wrote "It does massive damage against all targets of all types, robotic or not." [S15]

Magazines. wig (19 May 2026) wrote "Just bring the gun and the bullets, no magazines needed." [S21] diegohenrix (19 May 2026) said inspecting the weapon shows it is "created with a magazine already set" [S21]. Both posts are from before Update 5.5, and neither is an official statement.

What changed in the latest update

Channel37's Update 6.0 post, dated 19 October 2026, has three lines about weapon heat [S6]:

  • Main notes: "The flamethrower and flame pistol now give off heat." [S6]
  • RC3: "Fixed the flamethrower not producing heat correctly." [S6]
  • RC8: "Weapons now radiate more heat, while the flame pistol puts out less heat." [S6]

The RC entries are release-candidate notes inside the same post. It also lists "Improved the damage indicator and made the ammo text brighter." [S6] Heaters, the boiler and cold are on Cold and heating.

During the Update 6.0 public beta, Little Red One (11 October 2026) wrote "The flamer has a small AoE that helps with the doors." [S13] That is a single post and does not cite the patch note.

Cable prompts after the latest update

Before the update, Durandian's video showed the prompt "V to connect the flamethrower" ([14:56]) [S23]. Since Update 6.0, players report that connecting weapons to cables and backpacks behaves differently; their reports and the settings and workarounds they posted are on Known issues.

Players also report weapons left on the boat turning to scrap after a reload; those reports are on Known issues.

Damage and kill counts from players

  • ChilledCodex says a full charge on the electric rifle "is 10 units of energy" ([0:33]) [S14]. On a mine, the readout showed plus 45 and 50 in parenthesis, and they say "50 is the damage that I did" ([0:36]) [S14]. Connected to the boat's power, it showed plus 68 and "I did 68 damage" ([1:08]) [S14].
  • Ed130 (6 January 2026) wrote the electric rifle shot can go "up to 20 points when connected to an external power source." [S15] Ed130 does not define the unit, and this post is not compared here with the video readouts.
  • RyuLang (10 January 2026) wrote that the Electric Rifle gets "a damage increase by 3x if equipped with a red dot sight and by 2x with the sniper scope", and called it "this might be a bug and may change in the future" [S15].
  • Sharks: WillieSea (5 December 2025) wrote "Two fully charged shots (maybe three if you have bad aim)" kill one [S16]. deltahazer (5 December 2025) answered "Taking at least twice that many shots in my experience" [S16]. The Great Taz Gaming narrator says three ([15:11]) [S2].

The one pick named on this page is a narrator's opinion. The Great Taz Gaming narrator says "the best weapon to me for any style of fight is going to be the electric rifle" ([12:07]) [S2].

Grenades and other patch lines

  • Update 03 (18 March 2026): "Added the Sweetheart grenade and a craftable Sweetheart item." [S18]
  • Update 4.0 (13 May 2026): "Added a decoy grenade and corresponding skill." [S19]
  • Update 02 (11 February 2026): "Fixed a crash that could occur after prolonged flamethrower use" [S17].
  • Update 5.5 (31 August 2026): "Fixed an exploit involving crafting and recycling weapons." [S7]

TheGamer lists a Shock Grenade at Tier 8 and a Large Flame Grenade at Tier 17 [S1]. A player in an episode video says a big fire grenade "takes 100 L of petrol." ([32:40]) [S20] The next line is "How much do these? 50 L." ([32:45]) The wiki.gg page says the grenade slot holds "up to 100 of any one throwable" [S5].
