Short answer. In the sources read for this page about The Last Caretaker, no Channel37 text and no player post labels a button "Accept the Rules"; the name appears in a video title [S13]. Goldsky Survival puts the Transposium at a maze-looking square icon on the map, north of beacon 32 [S7]. Players describe the button in the room full of floor buttons by counting, screws, or sound [S11]. An Ep31 player calls the quest over in the final room [S12]. Players report that the last door can stay shut after the roller bot dies, for example Desync on 19 October 2026 [S14].

Is Accept the Rules a quest, a button or an achievement?

In the official announcements, patch notes and achievement list read for this page, no line uses the phrase. The Update 02 announcement (11 February 2026) lists "The Maze (Transposium): New location + questline." and names no quest [S1].

The name shows up in player-made places. The title of a Durandian video ends with "Transposium New Quest And New Update : Accept The Rules" [S13]. In an OZTRON video, the player reads a quest list aloud: "Accept the rules. No, that's reach the final room." ([22:08]) [S20]. The speaker corrects mid-sentence, so this is a weak sign, not a label for a button. Other video titles in search results use the phrase too; those pages were not read.

The official achievement list has Secret of the Maze: "Find the hidden room inside the Cube Room Maze." [S3]. Player reports on the achievement are on Achievements.

Getting there and what to bring

Delle(DK), answering a question about the new quests and biome on the Steam forum (6 February 2026), wrote: "there is a new map icon at coordinate 111.1:22.1 sail north of navigation beacon 32" [S6]. Goldsky Survival describes "maze. looking square icon on the map" ([0:26]) [S7] and an entrance outside where you "go down the ladder" ([0:49]) [S7].

Players mention power items to pack, in different words:

  • Delle(DK), 6 February 2026: "put 1 or 2 power bottles in your backpack." [S6]
  • Goldsky Survival: "bring two or three small batteries with you" ([1:13]) [S7], then "you only need two if you do it fast" ([1:26]) [S7]
  • StormkilGaming: "couple batteries before you head down" ([0:21]) [S8]

Doors that show nothing when highlighted cannot be opened yet, per Goldsky Survival: "some doesn't say anything. That means you cannot open" ([2:09]) [S7].

Route through the rooms, as players describe it

  1. Painting and button. Goldsky Survival: "You can move it and press the button" ([3:03]) [S7].
  2. Box room. Goldsky Survival goes left and sees "there's a button right here" ([4:48]) [S7]. J-Dub Gaming says to "go three rows of boxes over, and there will be a a toggle" switch ([3:40]) [S9]. The two videos describe the same room differently.
  3. Three-light door. Goldsky Survival: "one is green and two other is red" ([5:26]) [S7]. One light comes from the button under a table in the computer room: "underneath this table is the button" ([7:03]) [S7]. StormkilGaming wiggles a picture "till you hear it click" ([3:00]) [S10]. On 7 February 2026 Eichmann wrote on the forum: "I found a light switch behind a painting as well, for the door that needs three switches to be switched on" [S6].
  4. Teddy room. Goldsky Survival: a teddy "behind the couch" ([8:17]) [S7], and "Teddy right here and the door will be open" ([8:38]) [S7]. StormkilGaming says "You don't pick up the teddy bear, that door won't open" ([5:35]) [S8], then to pick up the little teddies and drop them in the next room. J-Dub Gaming says to drop the teddies on the ground in the next room ([7:16]) [S9].
  5. Stacking. Goldsky Survival: "stack the table and the boxes to reach that door on the ceiling" ([8:48]) [S7].
  6. Clock. Goldsky Survival: "the clock is a switch, too" ([9:32]) [S7].
  7. Roller bot. Goldsky Survival: "be prepared to press C for crowbar" ([11:02]) [S7].
  8. Final room. Goldsky Survival's video plays the line "No rescue promised, no instruction given, just exposure." ([11:26]) [S7]. An Ep31 player says "The transposium quest is is over" ([36:04]) [S12]. The ash notebook text reads "Personal journal from previous transposium occupants" ([36:14]) [S12].

The button room: versions side by side

Treat each as one player's report.

Who and whenWhat they saySource
Darke, 12 February 2026"the button is 6th from the back of the room, and 4th from the right of the room" from the entrance door; if slightly off, "just click around that area"[S11]
Seth, 1 July 2026"count 6 right then 4 down" from the top left, door on your right; the button is upside down[S11]
Dr. Dad, 14 February 2026Bulletin boards show a map with "a HUGE red button at the top right corner of that map"; after going to that corner, "it was like the 4th button I pressed"[S11]
Chuzhastik, 14 February 2026"The desired button LOOKS DIFFERENT! Take a good look at the SCREWS!"[S11]
candyundfelix, 1 July 2026"keep your ears open, it will play a soudn if you near it"[S11]
Goldsky Survival"count six and four" ([7:48]); "If it doesn't work, count again" ([8:01])[S7]
J-Dub Gaming"It is the fourth one in and the sixth one down" ([5:47]); if that fails, "start right here from this corner" ([5:59])[S9]
Durandian"Four to the left" and seven to the bottom ([30:56]); "If it wasn't this, it's one of these" ([31:07]); then "I hope it's the the same for everyone" ([31:12])[S13]
Ep31 player"each one of them has three mount points" and one is reversed ([8:22])[S12]

Durandian's count of seven is a single report [S13].

Sound is part of this room in the player reports. Darke (12 February 2026) called it "an audio puzzle" [S11]. DeadHeadAlex asked for help on 7 February 2026: "I cannot understand what the guy is saying over the loud speaker." [S11] On 20 October 2026, in a forum thread titled "Only partially subtitled?", Darke wrote that the Transposium is "particularly bad since it's got two things" that are noticed by sound [S21].

The last door and the roller bot

The same symptom appears in the February posts and again in the October posts: the roller bot dies and the door behind it stays shut.

  • Cammi (8 February 2026), in the red button room thread: "Now if I can just figure out how to open the damn door after the rolly boi robot." [S11]
  • andyseawardz (21 February 2026) killed the bot twice, and "the door behind him did not open after i kill it" [S16]. Jeeves_Gear replied on 22 February 2026: "Its a bug. Save and reload after killing the bot." and "Worked for me" [S16]. andyseawardz (23 February 2026) said the reload was done "did that 3 or 4 times" [S16]. kcs123 (23 February 2026) repeated: "Save after you killed robot. Then load again and go to room." [S16]
  • Iron Knight, during the Update 6.0 public beta (16 October 2026): "I got to the last door in the Transposium but it won't open." [S15] Thiesen answered the same day: "Do what everyone elsa has to do; save and reload..." [S15] Vice (17 October 2026, during the public beta): "I saved and reloaded more than 10+ times." [S15]
  • Desync (19 October 2026) killed the roller bot, and "the last door should be open when the rollerbot is killed" was what a walkthrough told them [S14]. Desync also reloaded: "Tried reloading and the roller-bot is no longer there but the door is firmly shut." [S14] Thiesen replied that "it's a known bug"; that is a player's description [S14].

The Update 6.0 notes list none either [S19].

Workarounds are reports, not fixes. Thiesen (19 October 2026) says to stand next to the door and use the Early Access menu "untill the game relocate you to the other side" [S14]. Desync (20 October 2026) could not get the door to open "after a good 20 minutes" [S14]. Tangoblue (16 October 2026, during the public beta) wrote "If not, I'll use the -ea, that worked for me earlier" and then "Update: Nope. Can't get into the last room." [S18] Channel37's support page documents "EXPERIMENTAL TOOL - Relocate character (backup saves before using):" for stuck characters [S5]; see Unstuck and EA tools and, for the Council door, Council and committees.

Target (18 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta), in a thread titled "Is there a Talon Offshore Proving Deck lower level?", describes arena-style fights in general and writes that "this exact thing happens with the Transposium roller as well" [S17]. Target says that "if you run, you fail. and it locks you out." [S17] and calls these "my observations" [S17]. No Channel37 text read for this page describes such a rule.

What Channel37 has published

  • Update 5.5 (31 August 2026): "Security cameras have been added to the Transposium Rooms." [S2]
  • Update 5.5 bug fixes: "Fixed an issue where the swarm would not spawn in Transposium Room 23." [S2]
  • Update 5.5 bug fixes: "Fixed holes in the floor at the Maze entrance." [S2] The line says Maze, not Transposium; linking them rests on the Update 02 wording [S1].
  • The Update 6.0 notes of 19 October 2026 contain no Transposium or Maze entry [S19].

Still unanswered

  • What "room 998" is: OracleX (7 February 2026) wrote "not sure I found was room 998" [S6].
  • Whether the last-door problem is fixed in Update 6.0: the latest report in these sources is Desync on 20 October 2026 [S14].
