Short answer. In The Last Caretaker, Update 5.5 added the bulk modules. The patch text calls the battery "Large Battery" [S1] and the announcement calls it "Bulk Battery" [S2]. The one capacity line for bulk modules in the Channel37 notes read on 21 October 2026 is in Update 5.5 Hotfix 1: 10,000 L for Diesel and Petrol and 20 kW for electricity [S1]. Players report 20kL and 30kWh since the Update 6.0 public beta [S3]. One player puts the Medium Battery at 6KWh [S13].

One module, several names

Update 5.5 Deck Drop (31 August 2026) lists "Large Battery, Petrol, and Diesel storage containers have been added." [S1] The Channel37 announcement of 3 September 2026 joins both names: "11 new container modules, from portable storage to large Bulk Battery, Petrol and Diesel containers" [S2]. Update 5.5 Hotfix 1 then speaks of "Bulk Storage" for Diesel, Petrol and electricity [S1]. This page therefore treats large battery and Bulk Battery as one module; that is the page's reading, not a Channel37 statement. The wiki.gg page "Consumable Large Battery" is a different item, one that "restores 200 Wh of the player's Internal battery" [S23].

Older answers are out of date. On 18 December 2025 Streder asked "Are we going to be getting a large battery at some point?" and WillieSea replied "The large battery already exists in the game files, there was a mod to 'activate' it in the game." [S21] Both posts predate the module described above. A TheGamer article published on 13 November 2025 says the ship starts with access to a "large battery and fuel tank" [S15], which is also older than the bulk modules.

Bulk tanks and the Bulk Battery

The table separates Channel37's figure from video and player figures. Units are copied from each source and not converted.

Launch figures. In a video whose title marks it as a beta of Update 5.5, the player says the old tank "held 2,000. What's this one hold? 6,000." ([3:54]) [S6]. The same video says the bulk battery "holds 18 kW. Ours holds six, the regular" ([5:11]) [S6]. Thiesen gave the same history on 18 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta: "When the devs implemented the New bulk stoage tanks they where only 6k liters" [S3].

Hotfix 1. The patch notes of 2 September 2026 say "Bulk Storage capacity has been increased to 10,000 L for Diesel and Petrol and 20 kW for electricity." [S1] The line writes kW, not kWh. AllegedlyLuca summarised it on 19 October 2026 as "20kWh for the battery" [S3]. No Channel37 text read for this page explains the unit. Three other videos give values that match Hotfix 1: "these tanks hold 2,000 L and they now hold 10,000" ([9:15]) [S7], and "Each holding 20 kilowatts" ([1:16]) [S8]. The speaker in the second video then totals 50 of those batteries as "1,000 kilowatt hours" ([1:20]) [S8], so that speaker treats the figure as stored energy. In a third video the speaker says "all three of them put together, 18 uh kilowatts" ([3:39]) [S9], then gives "20 kilowatts" ([3:43]) [S9] for a single battery, and soon after says "These medium batteries" ([4:00]) [S9].

Update 6.0. The player reports from Update 6.0 are:

  • AllegedlyLuca, 18 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta: "The bulk diesel and petrol tanks both doubled, from 10kL to 20kL, and the bulk battery went from 20kWh to 30kWh." [S3]
  • Cougar, 12 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta: "The XL diesel tanks hold 20,000l now instead of 10,000l." [S4]
  • crholt1, 13 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta, wrote that they lost "50% of diesel" and "didn't realize tanks went from 10k to 20k" [S4]. R_Sendout asked Cougar on 13 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta: "Didn't this happen before 6 though?" [S4] The thread has no answer from Cougar or Channel37 to that question.
  • Thiesen, 17 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta: "in 6.0 it will increase to 30kW" [S5]. Thiesen writes kW and AllegedlyLuca writes kWh; neither post explains the difference.
  • A video announcing Update 6: "20,000 L as opposed to 10,000 in these" ([1:57]) [S10]. The same video's auto-caption reads "30,000 kwatt hours" for the big batteries ([2:11]) [S10], which does not match the 30kWh that players write, so this page does not use it.
  • AllegedlyLuca, 20 October 2026, on the live build: "As of current time and on the full-release version of update 6, the increased capacities are still present." [S3] Permanence is that player's assumption [S3].

These figures come from players and one video [S11].

Full tanks that looked half empty. R_Sendout wrote on 12 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta: "Large diesel tanks that were full are now half empty." [S4] Cougar answered the same day with the 20,000l figure [S4], and Thiesen (13 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta) replied to R_Sendout that "They increased the bulk tanks from 10000l to 20000l" [S4]. Cpt. Noro (12 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta) guessed another cause: "Probably same as 2., you had something connected that was consuming diesel and when you come back, 1 hour is calculated and applied" [S4]. R_Sendout answered "No idea." to that [S4]. These explanations come from players, not from Channel37 [S4].

Barrels. The Update 5.5 beta video lists the unlockable barrels: "You got a petrol one, a freshwater one, oil, oxygen, methane, and there's a diesel barrel right there. And also CO2" ([4:10]) [S6]. No capacities for these barrels appear in the sources read for this page.

Medium Battery and the boat

v2kea504 wrote on 8 January 2026: "They hold 6KWh of power each." [S13] A power-guide video says "6 kilowatt hours worth of energy" ([12:52]) [S14]. TheGamer's table, published 13 November 2025, differs: the Medium Battery "Stores up to 5 Wh Of Electricity" [S15]. No Channel37 figure for the Medium Battery appears in the sources read.

Boat battery. On 17 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta, MegaRaichu wrote that a bulk battery on the boat was "not pulling all 20kw, it's only pulling 6, and then it just stops charging" [S12]. slycynic answered the same day: "the boat has a 6kWh battery. When you equalize that with a 30kWh battery, they will both max out at the lower number (6kWh)." [S12] Thiesen (17 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta), describing how Update 5.5 behaves, wrote that "if you put a bulk battery after a Medium battery you will ALWAYS get the capacity of the medium battery in the bulk battery Unless you force the direction into the bulk battery" [S12]. Marvin (17 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta) gave the boat's on-board diesel as "2,000L on board battery/diesel" [S12]. That is one post, and its battery figure does not match the 6kWh that Marvin wrote earlier in the thread [S12], so the boat diesel figure is single-source.

Update 6.0 balancing. The Update 6.0 notes say "Resource balancing between modules now works by percentage instead of fixed amounts." [S11] Players describe the effect. Marvin (17 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta): "battery balancing matches the % along each battery" [S12], so the boat shows "the actual % of my boat's total fuel tank capacity" when many bulk modules are linked [S12]. Target (17 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta) listed a downside: "it will only fill up to the % that the source is full" for backpacks [S12]. Marvin (17 October 2026, during the Update 6.0 public beta) replied that "even in balance more it charges the caretaker first" [S12]. After release, Thiesen (20 October 2026) wrote "now both the Medium batteries and the bulk batteries gets their charge based on perrcentage" [S3], and AllegedlyLuca agreed: "Don't need to do any of that anymore" [S3].

Storage boxes

The support page of Channel37 tells players to "Store materials in DuraPack, StorTite or FortiHold containers whenever possible." [S17] TheGamer's article (published 13 November 2025, before Update 5.5) lists the weights below and says capacity is measured by weight [S15].

ContainerCapacity in TheGamer's tableSource
Durapack"Storage Container: Up To 50 Kg"[S15]
Stortite"Storage Container: Up To 100 Kg"[S15]
Fortihold"Storage Container: Up To 200 Kg"[S15]

The wiki page for the CS-17 Courier Skimmer, captured before 21 October 2026, repeats the Durapack figure: "It has 2 DuraPacks (Small Chests) with a 50kg limit each." [S16] In the sources read for this page, only TheGamer gives the Stortite and Fortihold weights, and neither is checked against Update 6.0 [S15].
