About this site

The Last Caretaker Wiki is a fan-run reference for The Last Caretaker, the Early Access survival game by Channel37 on Steam. It is written by The Last Caretaker Wiki Team.

How these guides are written

Each guide starts from one question a player is likely to ask, such as why a heater will not start or why launched humans are not joining committees. The answer is built only from material that can be pointed to:

  • Channel37's own patch notes, announcements, support page and roadmap;
  • the Steam store page and Steam's public achievement statistics;
  • Steam discussion threads and other public player posts, with the poster's name and date;
  • gameplay videos, cited with a timestamp where the video has one.

Official material wins when it disagrees with a player report. Where players disagree with each other, the guide shows both reports and who made them rather than picking one.

Every guide states which game version it was checked against, and ends with a "Sources and version" list linking each source it relies on.

How the guides are checked

Before a guide goes live, every number and every quoted phrase in it is compared with saved copies of the sources it cites, by a checking step that is separate from the writing step. A sample of guides is also rechecked by script: every quoted phrase and number is compared with the saved source. A guide that fails is corrected before it is published.

Updates

The Last Caretaker is still in Early Access and changes with each update. Each guide shows the date it was checked and the update it was checked against. Channel37's patch notes on Steam list every change to the game.

For purchases, account help or bug reports, use Steam and Channel37's official support channels.

How the guides are made

AI-assisted research and writing. The guides are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools. The tools are used to collect public sources, read them, and write the guide text from them.

Checking. A separate checking step, run apart from the writing, compares every number and quoted phrase in a guide with saved copies of the sources it cites. A sample of guides is also rechecked by script: every quoted phrase and number is compared with the saved source. A guide that fails either check is corrected before it is published.

Sources and conflicts

  • Official sources from Channel37 come first. When a player report disagrees with official patch notes, the guide says so.
  • Player reports are named and dated. A report from one player is presented as that player's report.
  • When players disagree, the guide shows the disagreement instead of choosing a side.
  • Each fact is kept on one page, so every number has one value across the site.

Versions and corrections

Every guide states the game version it was checked against and the date of the check. When an update changes something, the affected guide is rechecked against the new patch notes. Older advice is marked with the update that changed it.
